Decant Gala 2024: Celebrating a Decade of Success

On Saturday May 11, 2024, the Decant Gala celebrated a decade of making a difference at the tenth annual gala in support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada. This year’s event, held at the Delta Hotel in Toronto, was nothing short of spectacular, filled with dining, dancing and entertainment, bringing community members together to raise over $320,000 in support Canadians living with cystic fibrosis.
The event featured many key speakers including 2024 Master of Ceremonies, Ben Mulroney. Ben continues his family legacy in the fight against CF as his mother, Mila Mulroney, was Cystic Fibrosis Canada’s previous Honorary Chairperson for many years, raising awareness and vital funding for CF research and patient care.
During the event, guest speakers Louise Taylor and Stephanie Stavros joined guests to share their experiences with cystic fibrosis. As both a Decent Gala committee member and CF clinic nurse for over 30 years, Louise Taylor has worked with CF Canada to advocate for drug coverage for those living with CF. Cystic Fibrosis Canada Ambassador Stephanie Stavros shared her journey with cystic fibrosis, highlighting her experience as both an individual living with the disease and a public advocate for rare disease patients.
The gala incorporated many fundraising initiatives throughout the evening including a silent and live auction offering fine wines, local activity packages, speciality items and multiple getaways, generously donated by sponsors. The opportunity to participate in fine wine fundraising will continue, with the Decant Wine Auction, hosted by Iron Gate and held online from November 26 to December 3, 2024, with all funds raised adding to this year’s Gala contributions.
Additionally, the event included a “Key to a Cure” campaign, during which guests had the opportunity to directly support a key component of CF Canada’s research funding model, a clinical fellowship. Guests supported this initiative through on-the-spot bids at various contribution levels. Through the generosity of attendees and sponsors, the 2024 event was able to raise over $320,000 in vital funds for those living with cystic fibrosis.
The 2024 gala not only focused on the contributions of the community this year but also celebrated over $3 million that has been raised through the event over the past ten years. This remarkable achievement is a display of the dedication and generosity of event sponsors, donors and guests, making a difference in the lives of those living with CF.
