1. COULD YOU PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF?
Grant Hoffert, Nurse Coordinator for the Victoria Adult Cystic Fibrosis Clinic
2. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK IN A CF CLINIC?
I chose the Cystic Fibrosis Clinic in order to work with a population throughout the lifespan – focusing on health promotion and trying to improve day to day. Something that is missed in the acute care setting. Plus, there are a lot of amazing people to work with.
3. WHAT IS A TYPICAL DAY LIKE?
Busy, but always interesting. For everything that someone sees in the front end, there is a lot of behind the scenes work that isn’t visible. Organizing, connecting with people, education – it keeps me on my toes.
4. WHAT HAS BEEN THE GREATEST HIGHLIGHT OF WORKING WITH PEOPLE LIVING WITH CF FOR YOU?
So many highlights. I think I will say working with the CF community as a whole. Individuals, families, health professionals, researchers, CF Canada - being connected to a larger group all working towards a common goal – of ending CF. I feel very fortunate to be part of it.
5. WHY DO YOU THINK IT’S IMPORTANT TO SUPPORT CF CANADA?
I view CF Canada as an essential piece of our community. They create visibility for the disease for the larger population. They raise funds to help support our clinics as well as research for a cure. Most importantly, they allow for a voice for individuals and families to all levels of government, and even with the clinics. I don’t think we would be where we are without them. Thank you.
