Dr. Eckford holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Guelph and has spent most of his career studying cystic fibrosis. Previously, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Christine Bear at the Hospital for Sick Children, studying the function of purified reconstituted CFTR protein and its interaction with CFTR modulator drugs, before moving into a leadership role managing several multi-investigator CF projects at SickKids, including the CFIT Program (Cystic Fibrosis Canada-SickKids Program in Individualized Therapy). Dr. Eckford joined Cystic Fibrosis Canada as Program Director, Research, in June 2021 where he helped to develop the organization’s new research strategy, Momentum, and managed all research programs including the organization’s annual research funding competition, before assuming the role of Chief Scientific Officer.

Individuals, teams, and workplace employees can give a little back during the Holiday season by volunteering to wrap gifts at any of our participating malls. Funds raised from Wrapping for a Cure go back into the local community.
