THE ROLE AND IMPACT:
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Senior Manager of Annual Giving will be responsible for overseeing, developing and executing a comprehensive strategy for Cystic Fibrosis Canada’s annual giving program. The Senior Manager has direct responsibility for the annual giving portfolio including managing donor acquisition campaigns, increasing revenue and retention of annual, monthly and midlevel giving donors, integrating planned giving marketing into direct response programs, overseeing tribute/in memoriam donations, and other engagement programs to grow the donor base. The Senior Manager will also supervise and mentor the Annual Giving Coordinator, ensuring alignment with program goals and maximizing team efficiency. Collaboration with marketing and communications will be key to creating impactful campaigns and achieving revenue growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR GROWTH:
Annual Giving Program Leadership:
- Develop, implement, and manage an innovative and efficient annual giving strategy and business plans for the annual giving portfolio nationwide with the objective of increasing donor retention and revenue.
- Oversee all direct response efforts for mail, email, digital, and telemarketing campaigns, including making decisions regarding specific campaign goals, target audience, key messaging, and expenditure.
- Collaborate with other fundraising program leads to ensure a seamless donor journey from acquisition to retention, with a focus on meaningful recognition and stewardship initiatives.
- Work closely with marketing and communications teams to design compelling campaigns that drive donor engagement and ensure messaging aligns with the organization's overall brand and mission.
- Select stories, and leverage storytelling, impact reports, and digital content to deepen donor relationships and encourage giving.
- Utilize donor and gift data to optimize segmentation to create targeted campaigns and messaging.
- Determine key metrics, monitor and evaluate campaign performance, donor engagement trends, and other metrics to refine strategies.
- Manage relationships with external vendors, including direct mail agencies and digital consultants, including vetting and providing feedback on creative materials to ensure consistency with brand and overarching communications strategy, and to ensure they resonate with the target audience
- Ensure the integration of the annual fundraising program, events, digital marketing, and broader communications program.
- Keep up to date with sector best practice and trends in annual giving and contribute knowledge and insights while working with other fundraising and communication leaders to develop multi-year fundraising plans.
- Works closely with the various departments (Finance, P&C, IT, Fundraising and Communications Directors and Executive team members) in order to foster cooperation and maximize revenue.
Budget Management and Forecasting:
- Define realistic and ambitious revenue targets based on historical performance, donor behaviour and organization’s needs.
- Develop and continuously track and evaluate the annual giving budget, including revenue and expenses.
- Monitor and forecast performance metrics to ensure revenue goals are met or exceeded.
- Provide regular financial updates to leadership, including analysis of variances and recommendations for adjustments.
Midlevel Giving Program Management:
- Develops national practices and processes to manage and grow the midlevel donor program, deploying one-to-some strategies to provide more personalized stewardship and cultivation strategies.
- Provide regular reporting and analysis of midlevel giving performance, including identification of prospective major donors from within the portfolio.
Integration of Planned Giving Marketing:
- Collaborate with the planned giving team to integrate messaging and strategies that deepen the commitment of annual and midlevel donors to build a legacy donor pipeline.

Staff Management Accountabilities
- Provides authentic leadership, support and direction in the development, alignment, and accomplishment of objectives through on-going performance feedback, recognition, and coaching.
- Provides a safe and healthy work environment for team members and relevant stakeholders. Ensure they work in compliance with The Occupational Health & Safety Act in applicable province of employment, its regulations, and the Foundation’s Health & Safety Policy.
- Contributes to workforce planning, including making recommendations to optimize the organizational structure for managing annual, monthly, and midlevel donors.
WHAT YOU BRING:
Required:
- 7+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and/or sales and marketing or other relevant environment, including 3+ years in annual giving, or direct response marketing.
- Experience in managing budgets and forecasting.
- Superior project management skills
- Demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness, creativity and flexibility.
- Prior experience supervising staff or coordinating teams.
- Strong knowledge of CRM systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, etc.).
- High-proficiency in data analysis, financial forecasting, and performance tracking.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a collaborative environment.
- Post-secondary education in marketing, communications, business, non-profit management or related fields;
- Ability to build cooperative relationships with peers, share knowledge, learn from others, and contribute to put organizational goals ahead of individual achievements.
Preferred:
- Proven success in integrating planned giving marketing into annual giving strategies.
- Experience managing a midlevel donor program.
- A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, nonprofit management, communications, or a related field.
- French language skills are an asset
