Meet Bradley, a Toronto-based artist who has spent much of his life balancing two important parts of who he is: music and cystic fibrosis. Over the years, he discovered that singing not only gave him a creative outlet, but it also became an unexpected part of his health journey.
Finding Strength in the Journey
For much of Bradley's childhood, CF was simply part of everyday life. Medications, treatments, and clinic appointments were woven into his routine, and as a kid, he didn't always realize how different his experiences were from those of others.
As he got older, Bradley began to understand more about what it meant to live with a lifelong condition. Alongside the physical challenges came difficult questions, frustrations, and emotions that were often hard to make sense of. At the same time, those experiences shaped the way he saw the world, teaching him that everyone is carrying something others may not see and helping him develop a deeper appreciation for life's moments, both big and small.
Like many people living with CF, Bradley's health has changed over the years. His treatment routine has been a constant for as long as he can remember, but in 2022, he began taking Trikafta, a milestone that transformed the way he experienced daily life.
Where Music and CF Meet
Music has always been part of Bradley's life. Some of his earliest memories are tied to drives with his parents on the way to clinic appointments, where familiar songs on the radio provided comfort on days that could feel uncertain. Outside of those visits, he spent hours watching music videos, singing around the house, and performing at family gatherings.
Years later, that same connection between music and CF inspired Bradley's One Song a Day project during CF Awareness Month. By sharing a song each day, he hoped to raise awareness, challenge himself creatively, and give back to a community that has shaped so much of his journey.
Looking Ahead
As music became a bigger part of Bradley's life, so did his willingness to share his experience with CF. One of his earliest connections to Cystic Fibrosis Canada was performing at the annual CF Walk, an experience he still remembers today. While he was nervous stepping onto the stage, it became an important turning point. It showed him that music could help him express emotions and experiences that were often difficult to explain, giving him a way to share his story through something he loved.
That realization has stayed with him ever since.
Bradley is currently preparing for performances in Toronto and Montreal, where he'll be sharing a mix of original songs and covers. He's also busy in the studio, working on an upcoming EP and new music that he's looking forward to sharing soon.
To Supporters
When asked what he would like supporters of Cystic Fibrosis Canada to know, Bradley's response comes back to gratitude.
"I've been able to experience life, for all its highs and lows, for every precious memory I won't forget, and for every day, I'm grateful."
He hopes supporters know that their generosity has made a meaningful difference, not only in his life, but in the lives of so many people in the CF community, helping drive progress today while continuing the search for a cure.
