From understanding how different gifts work, to knowing how your family and financial plans fit in, our FAQs are designed to give you clear, straightforward information.

How do I leave a gift in a Will?

If you’re considering a planned gift, you may want to start by discussing your intentions with loved ones — and asking your lawyer about creating or updating your will. This helps to ensure your wishes are properly met and your legacy gift is tailored to reflect your values and your generosity.

You can learn about different planned giving options on our Giving Options page, or download our Will kit.

When you are ready to explore your options, we’re here to help. Contact our experienced team at legacygiving@cysticfibrosis.ca or 1-800-378-2233 for more information.

Are there tax benefits for gifts in a Will?

Yes. When you leave a gift to Cystic Fibrosis Canada in your Will, your estate will receive a tax receipt for the full value of your gift. These tax credits can reduce the amount of tax owing on your final return and may even increase what remains for your beneficiaries.

Everyone’s financial situation is unique. We encourage you to speak with your financial advisor or tax professional to understand how a legacy gift can best support both your loved ones and the causes you care about.

Can I change my mind about a gift in my Will?

Absolutely. We understand that life and circumstances can change. A gift in your Will is revocable, which means you can update or remove it at any time to reflect your current wishes.
