Eva Cho

Eva Cho, pharmacist at BC Children's Hospital, Chair of the National CF Pharmacist Committee and recipient of Cystic Fibrosis Canada’s 2025 Multidisciplinary Healthcare Award: Pharmacist, began career with a residency project in cystic fibrosis (CF). This experience gave her foundational insight into the disease and sparked her interest in CF care. Following her residency, Eva continued to work with the cystic fibrosis team, covering CF patients alongside her other responsibilities and attending inpatient rounds to gain hands-on experience.

In 2009, the implementation of the newborn screening program in British Columbia led to the creation of new clinic positions, including the CF pharmacist role, and Eva joined the clinic team full-time. Since then, she has played a central role in providing pharmaceutical expertise within the multidisciplinary CF team. Her work focuses on ensuring optimal medication management, supporting individualized care, and collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to meet the complex needs of CF patients.

Eva states the importance of continuity and teamwork within the clinic. She emphasizes that maintaining a stable, collaborative team not only supports patient care but also creates a positive work environment where staff can thrive. She notes that a cohesive team allows for more effective communication, better problem-solving, and higher-quality care for patients and families alike.

Throughout her career, Eva has witnessed the significant evolution of cystic fibrosis care and deeply values the strong sense of community within the field. She highlights the vital role of Cystic Fibrosis Canada and the broader CF community in fostering collaboration, standardizing care across regions, and supporting patients, families, and healthcare professionals. Eva has a deep appreciation for the multidisciplinary approach that defines CF care. She also values the opportunity to contribute to patient well‑being from the moment of diagnosis and considers it a privilege to mentor colleagues and share her expertise with newer members of the CF team.

Eva remains committed to advancing CF care in British Columbia, supporting patients, mentoring colleagues, and contributing to the ongoing development of comprehensive, patient-centered CF care.
