Camp Fromaway

For young people living with cystic fibrosis (CF), meeting someone else who truly understands what life with CF can be like isn’t always easy. Camp Fromaway is helping change that.

From July 13 to 17, youth living with CF joined together from across Canada for Camp Fromaway 2026, a virtual summer camp hosted by Upopolis at Brigadoon in partnership with Cystic Fibrosis Canada.

For one week, campers logged on to create, laugh, learn and most importantly: meet other young people from the CF community.

There was plenty to keep everyone busy. Campers made slime, decorated personalized pill boxes, played games, and participated in group activities and conversations. It was a chance to get creative, have fun, and turn even something as familiar as a pill box into a memorable camp activity.

In addition to these creative activities, youth had access to psychosocial support from a Certified Child Life Specialist, as well as opportunities to ask questions and connect with CF nurses.

But Camp Fromaway is about more than what’s on the activity schedule.

Living with CF can sometimes mean that opportunities to meet and spend time with others who share similar experiences look a little different. By bringing camp online, youth from communities across Canada could join from home, meet new people and spend time with others who just get it.

As we wrap up another year of Camp Fromaway, a big thank you goes to Upopolis, along with the facilitators and volunteers who brought the week to life. And, of course, thank you to our campers. 💙 You brought the creativity, laughs, questions and energy that made Camp Fromaway what it was.

And we’re already looking ahead to next year! Calling all future campers- youth living with CF aged 10+, be sure to save the date for Camp Fromaway 2027! More details to come.
