Participants will #StepToward a life without limits for Canadians with CF.
Cystic Fibrosis Canada’s signature event, the Walk To Make Cystic Fibrosis History, will take place on Sunday, May 25 at 40 locations across the country. Participants are invited to register for the Walk and raise funds to #StepToward a future where all Canadians with cystic fibrosis can live longer, healthier, and fuller lives.
The Walk is an opportunity for families, friends, individuals, work colleagues, and other teams to take a #StepToward changing the lives of people living with cystic fibrosis and honouring those who’ve lost their lives because of this disease. The Walk is a volunteer-driven event and would not be possible without the support of hundreds of dedicated supporters across the country and the business that support the Walk with sponsorship and gifts in kind.
“Walk Day is unlike any other - the excitement, supporters, families and fun make it special,” said Gemma Cowan, Senior Director, Cystic Fibrosis Canada. “We are inspired that communities across the country have been uniting at our Walk for more than twenty years to support Canadians with cystic fibrosis. Their support, enthusiasm and generosity have resulted in incredible progress.”
Every year Cystic Fibrosis Canada hosts the Walk To Make Cystic Fibrosis History on the last Sunday in May – Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month. The event is the largest national fundraiser in support of Canadians with cystic fibrosis and has raised $48 million since its inception 20 years ago.
Thanks to these funds, Cystic Fibrosis Canada, together with the CF community, successfully advocated for the recent expansion of access to life-changing drugs for those with rare mutations, helping people across the country with cystic fibrosis breathe easier and slow the damage to their lungs.
While there has been tremendous progress, there are still too many Canadians with cystic fibrosis for whom the latest drugs and treatment do not work. Cystic Fibrosis Canada refuses to leave them behind. This year, we #StepToward a future where all Canadians have access to treatments that work for them and focus on funding research projects that provide urgently needed benefits to our community, initiate change, and end CF for all.
Funds raised through the Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History support Cystic Fibrosis Canada’s work in improving access to life-changing medications, funding Canadian cystic fibrosis research, supporting high-quality individualized healthcare and driving information and support resources.
